Superpro Series

Young Derek Bischak scored his first ever SUPERPRO Series feature win by capturing the Lipari Foods 75 Presented by Teamtech Motorsports Saturday night at the Springport Motor Speedway.

Al Cook Jr. and first time SUPERPRO competitor Kyle Hayden brought the field down to the green with Hayden grabbing the lead. On lap four, Cook Jr. moved back to the point and two laps later, Rick Everidge moved into second.

2007 champion Tommy Cook and Bischak started making their through the field. Tommy Cook grabbed fourth place on lap 21 and moved into third on lap 25. Bischak took fourth on lap 31. At the half way point of the race saw Al Cook, Jr. leading followed by Tommy Cook, Rick Everidge, Bischak and Hayden. Both Tommy Cook and Bischak moved around Everidge on lap 43 and set sail for Al Cook, Jr. Fast qualifier Rob Buckley’s hard luck season continued as he dropped from the race on lap 44.

Tommy Cook and Bischak swapped second and third for ten laps. They caught the leader on lap 53 and both moved around Cook Jr. Bischak passed for the lead on lap 61 and survived a couple of late race cautions to take the checkers. Tommy Cook, Al Cook, Jr, Hayden and Mike Kugler rounded out the top five. Chad Finley was sixth followed by Everidge, Kevin Todd, Matt Hall and Brian Bauman. Colin Toland was eleventh and Samantha Jansen became the second female driver to compete in the SUPERPRO Series by finishing twelfth on the lead lap.

Buckley was the Corrigan Oil - Aluminum Racing Products Fast Qualifier with a time of 15.229 seconds ( 89.829 miles per hour) around the three-eights mile paved oval. Bischak was the AllStar Performance - Lane Automotive Hard Charger of the Race and Paul Jakubik was the Aluminum Racing Products Hard Luck Award Winner. Tommy Cook extended his point lead to 53 points over Everidge for the 2008 SUPERPRO Championship.

SUPERPRO closed out its 2008 season with two separate races on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21 at Plymouth Speedway in Plymouth, Indiana as part of their “Stock Car Festival.” For more information, go to the web at www.superproracing.com.
